The following are some really helpful tips to increase your computer speed with no extra cost :

These unnecessary files slow down the computer considerably and should be deleted immediately. There you will find a disk cleanup button, click on it and it will delete all your temporary files. This action should be done at least once every week.

Almost all versions of Windows have a disk defragmenter software installed in it. To use this application open the Windows tab and go to the accessories option. Select the option system tools and the select the program disk defragmenter and run the process. Make sure that you disable your screen saver and the standby option before running it.
- Check and repair disk errors - Whenever there’s a power outage or a program unexpectedly crashes it causes error on the disk. These errors cause the computer to slow down and hence must be fixed. Windows has the option of a check disk program which will help you fix these errors.
- Optimize your hard disk - Make sure you delete all the unnecessary programs and applications that you do not use anymore. These programs take up unnecessary space on your hard-disk and make it slow.
- Install and regularly update your Anti-virus- There may be a lot of unexpected viruses in your system. Install trusted anti-virus software and update it every time you can. Run a periodic check to keep your system virus free. You can also set a schedule for the computer to automatically check itself for viruses.

- Update your Operating System- Updating your operating system can also help boost your computer’s performance. Most updates are available online so it’s very easy to update them.
- Keep your desktop empty- It’s always a good idea to keep your desktop as uncluttered as possible. Each item you put on your desktop uses 500 bytes of RAM so try and avoid to keep a lot of things in your desktop.
- Disable auto-start options – There are certain applications that start automatically when you start your computer. These unnecessarily use RAM and slow down your booting speed e.g. Skype, Yahoo! Messenger. Disable them during start-up for a faster system.
